This is a fascinating WWII British issued Thompson 1928A1 submachine gun. The original serial number S-239233 on the trigger assembly falls within the known batch of guns that were supplied to the British during the early part of WWII. These serial numbers are between S-153219 and S-274118. Once repaired the armourer struck out the old serial number and hand stamped the receivers serial 479239 to match the  upper. This is also a good indication that it saw active service and required repair. During WWII the British ordered around 107,000 Thompson's from the US under the Lend Lease agreement made between the UK & US Governments.

The Thompson is correctly marked with the US Ordnance and inspectors stamps RLB and flaming grenade. It has a finned barrel, Cutts compensator and Lymans battle sights. A great piece of British WWII history.

Deactivated with a moving bolt/carry and trigger that returns under spring tension.
